DHI method

The art of hair transplantation with our exclusive method for men and women. An ideal solution at various stages of baldness to restore hair density and self-confidence.

What Does the DHI Hair Transplant Method Involve?

The DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) hair transplant method is a state-of-the-art technique defined by international standards set by the DHI Academy in London. Exclusively practiced at Maison Lutétia in Paris and in the United Arab Emirates, the DHI method represents the most advanced and reliable approach available today for both men and women experiencing hair loss.

At Maison Lutétia, the DHI hair transplant technique involves the manual extraction of hair follicles from the "Hippocratic crown," an area where hair is genetically programmed to remain permanently. The follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area and meticulously implanted into the bald or thinning areas, following the natural orientation and density of the patient’s original hair. This meticulous approach ensures that the results of the DHI hair transplant are virtually undetectable.

Our hair and follicle system experts are physicians specifically trained in the DHI method. They also apply our excellence protocol to eyebrow transplants and beard grafts in Paris at Maison Lutétia, working in collaboration with expert visagists, dermographers, and barbers.

Who Should Consider It?

A DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) hair transplant is recommended for individuals experiencing hair loss, whether it is light alopecia or advanced baldness, for both men and women. This technique is highly effective in restoring hair by replicating the natural hair implantation pattern, providing excellent results with no visible scars or traces.

Many patients, both men and women, who have been disappointed by other hair transplant techniques, turn to the DHI method at Maison Lutétia in Paris to achieve a beautiful, natural-looking hair density. Our clinic specializes in corrective hair transplants, which constitute a significant part of our practice. Depending on individual needs, our expert physicians can enhance the natural appearance of the frontal hairline, camouflage FUT scars, and address issues like the "doll hair" effect or insufficient density commonly associated with FUE.

Pricing

The cost of DHI hair transplants varies based on the stage of hair loss, the number of grafts required to cover the area, and the time needed for the procedure.

  • A one-day DHI hair transplant session costs between €3900 and €8000.
  • For a two-day session, the price can go up to €15900.
  • In rare cases where the bald areas are extensive and the donor area permits, a three-day session can be performed using the exclusive DHI method at Maison Lutétia. This session may cost up to €17900.

Is the Result of the DHI Hair Transplant Permanent?

In the weeks following the implantation, the existing hairs in the grafts will naturally fall out, making way for new hair growth starting from the third month. After 6 months, the density of the new hair begins to become visible. However, it takes up to 12 months to see the anticipated results and 18 months for the final outcome.

The result of a DHI hair transplant is permanent, and any trace of the procedure is undetectable.

While the DHI hair transplant does not stop hair loss, it manages it. Hair loss will continue to progress, and native hairs destined to fall will eventually shed, unlike the implanted grafts from the stable donor area. Sometimes, it may be necessary to consider a new hair transplant when the donor area allows to re-densify areas that continue to thin.

It is recommended to use Minoxidil (Alostil) to slow down hair loss. At Maison Lutétia Paris, our hair experts offer treatments such as MésoLED to regenerate the hair ecosystem.

DHI Hair Transplant at Maison Lutétia

Advantages

First and foremost, the DHI hair transplant is entirely painless thanks to local anesthesia. It is non-invasive and leaves no scars, as highly specialized doctors do not make incisions to implant the grafts, unlike in FUE. The procedure follows a strict protocol with around a hundred steps, adhering to a standardized protocol that doctors are trained in for 18 months. The categorization of grafts allows for artistic implantation, a unique and personalized design, and uniform density. There is no social downtime after a DHI hair transplant; normal activities can resume the day after the procedure.

To make this experience unique and enjoyable, Maison Lutétia offers a luxurious and comfortable setting, including access to Netflix during the implantation and a dedicated patient space within an intervention room equipped with a custom-made bed. The patient is pampered from the moment they arrive at the clinic in the morning, starting with a warm welcome and dedicated service.

Taking the leap is not an easy decision. Aware of the importance of this choice, our experts are committed to guiding you through your hair restoration journey, supporting you throughout the regrowth process.

DHI Method

How does it work?

The DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique is a method of extracting hair follicles one by one, similar to FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). However, unlike FUE, DHI is performed entirely manually with precise control over the implantation process. The doctor uses a high-precision DHI injector, which allows them to control the depth, angle, and direction of each follicle's implantation according to the natural hair growth pattern surrounding the balding area. Doctors are trained in the DHI method for 18 months.

For Whom?

The DHI method is indicated for cases of baldness. It is suitable for restoring hair regardless of the extent of the balding.

Pricing

The cost ranges from €3,900 to €17,900 depending on the number of sessions required for hair restoration.

Preoperative

Initially, the patient is required to complete a medical questionnaire to identify any potential conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or medication use. For the 8 days preceding the surgery, it is advised to avoid aspirin and vitamins. It is also recommended to limit the consumption of tobacco, coffee, and alcohol during the 48 hours prior to the procedure.

Postoperative

During the 15 days following the hair transplant, it is advised to avoid sun exposure and intense physical activities. The doctor will prescribe anti-inflammatory medications and antibiotics. However, you can resume your normal daily activities the day after the operation.

Sessions

DHI hair transplant sessions are performed in a sterile operating room. The duration varies depending on the size of the area being treated, typically requiring between 2 and 8 hours. Multiple sessions are often necessary.

Advantages of the DHI Method

  1. A completely painless technique performed under local anesthesia.
  2. The DHI method is the only hair transplant technique that does not leave any scars, either at the donor or recipient sites.
  3. Natural and dense results due to a perfectly controlled implantation technique.
  4. A return to normal life as soon as the day after the operation.
  5. A method that follows a strict protocol and is performed by highly specialized doctors.
