Pigmentary spots

Spots on the hands

The hands are one of the first areas affected by skin aging. Delicate, thin, and exposed to the sun, the skin on the hands easily shows signs of aging, wrinkling, and developing pigment spots over time. To achieve a rejuvenating effect on the hands, various treatments are offered at Maison Lutétia.

The different types of aging of the hand

The skin aging of the hands manifests in several ways:

  • Skin level: Over time, the skin becomes thinner, wrinkles, and reveals veins. Brown spots may also appear.
  • Volume level: Gradually, the fatty tissues of the hands diminish, resulting in a loss of volume in this area.
  • Muscular level: Natural aging of the hands is accompanied by muscle loss. Over the years, they appear less firm and toned.
Hands aging

The 5 stages

  • Stage 0: No loss of fatty tissue is observed.
  • Stage 1: Slight loss of fatty tissue, with veins and tendons becoming slightly noticeable.
  • Stage 2: Moderate loss of fatty tissue, with veins and tendons slightly visible through the skin.
  • Stage 3: Significant loss of fatty tissue, with moderate visibility of veins and tendons under the skin.
  • Stage 4: Hands have lost a substantial amount of fatty tissue, making veins and tendons highly visible.
The causes of hand aging

Genetics

The speed of skin thinning and fat loss is genetically determined. This means that we are unequal in the face of skin aging! However, the more fat there is, the longer the skin thinning process takes.

Tobacco and skin aggressions

All types of aggression (chemical, meteorological...) accelerate the formation of wrinkles and skin dryness.

Age

Over time, age spots, also known as lentigines, appear. Additionally, the skin on the hands becomes thinner, becoming translucent and prone to wrinkling. There is also a loss of fat, making tendons and interdigital hollows visible.

The sun

UV exposures are responsible for photoaging of the skin, the appearance of sunspots (or lentigines), a yellowish to gray skin tone, dry and rough texture, and actinic keratoses.

How to rejuvenate the hands?

Hand lifts are no longer current, especially due to the scars they leave on the skin. Non-invasive treatments are now preferred to enhance hands and restore their former beauty.

  • To plump and restore volume to the back of the hand: hyaluronic acid injections
  • To smooth wrinkled or creased skin on the hands and improve its quality: Mesolift LED, SkinBoosters
  • To eliminate brown spots or age spots on the hands: Q-Switched Laser

Hyaluronic acid injections

How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule naturally present in the skin. Injecting hyaluronic acid into the hands helps to plump up wrinkles and grooves and restore the volumes lost over time, counteracting fat loss. The rejuvenating effect is immediate.

Sessions

Depending on your lifestyle, a session is needed approximately every 6 to 18 months.

SkinBoosters

How does it work?

This is a deep mesotherapy treatment that involves injecting lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid into the hands to plump the skin. The skin is smoothed out, appearing more even. Revitalized, it looks more resilient and appears less translucent.

Sessions

Two sessions spaced one month apart, followed by a maintenance session every 6 months.

MesoLift LED

How does it work?

To hydrate the skin of the hands from within and restore softness and firmness, a Mesolift LED protocol is recommended. This is a superficial mesotherapy treatment that involves injecting fluid hyaluronic acid, minerals, nutrients, and essential vitamins to improve skin quality. It is ideal for combating skin dryness and restoring vibrant, healthy-looking hands.

Sessions

A protocol of 6 sessions spaced 15 days apart, with a maintenance session every month.

Q-Switched laser

How does it work?

This is a laser that lightens colored pigments under the skin and reduces the appearance of pigmented spots thanks to its three wavelengths, without leaving scars.

Sessions

Approximately two sessions, with the protocol determined by the expert physician.

Natural tips to prevent premature aging

  1. Protect your skin: Shield your hands from cold, heat, sun, water, and harsh products.
  2. Exfoliate weekly: Use sugar and olive oil to exfoliate dead cells, promoting cell regeneration and slowing down skin aging.
  3. Use a hand cream: Apply aloe vera to your hands morning and night to prevent skin dryness and dehydration wrinkles.
  4. Apply an anti-spot treatment: Leave a mixture of lemon juice and cucumber juice on your hands for 20 minutes to lighten pigmented spots.
