Tighten dilated pores

Visible pores are a daily occurrence for men and women with combination to oily skin, as excess sebum is responsible for their dilation.

What are dilated pores?

Dilated pores are small openings on the skin's surface created by sebaceous glands. They house the hair follicles and allow sebum and sweat to escape. In a way, pores help the skin breathe! It's often said that an epidermis with dilated pores has a "tangerine skin" appearance, meaning that the complexion is not clear-cut and the skin texture is irregular.

Pores are present all over the face, and are particularly visible on the T-zone: the forehead, nose and chin. Both women and men are affected by enlarged pores, though men are more prone to developing them due to androgenic hormones. As the appearance of pores is genetically determined, we're not all equal when it comes to their diameter! Combination to oily skins are particularly affected by enlarged pores, blackheads and shine, due to the excess sebum that characterizes them. Enlarged pores can even become infected, sometimes leading to the appearance of micro-cysts. As the skin ages, pores tend to widen and sagging sets in.

Causes of dilated pores

  • Oily skin with blackheads and/or acne
  • Sun and UV rays
  • Pollution and other impurities
  • Sweating (hot surrounding temperatures)
  • Cosmetic products not adapted to skin type
  • Hormonal changes (puberty or menopause)
  • Genetics
  • Poor lifestyle habits (diet, smoking, etc.)
  • Sagging and aging of facial skin
  • Hormonal cycle (puberty, menopause, etc.).

How to tighten pores?

To tighten pores, a home beauty routine is often not enough. Clay masks and other sebum-regulating treatments often have only a fleeting effect. We recommend complementing your routine with aesthetic medicine treatments that have a long-term effect. Peelings, fractional CO2 laser, Hydrafacial, mesotherapy, microdermabrasion... There are many treatments available to get rid of dilated pores. Here's a look at the treatments we offer at Maison Lutétia to tighten pores and restore beautiful skin.

Skin refining treatments at Maison Lutétia

AHA peels

How does it work? AHA peels take care of combination to oily skin, which is particularly prone to pimples, blackheads and other imperfections. This treatment triggers a gentle chemical reaction on its own: no rubbing is needed to activate cell regeneration, unlike grainy peels! In this way, the sebaceous glands - responsible for sebum production and related skin problems - are not irritated! Maison Lutétia's AHA peel purifies the skin, with a long-lasting effect that both rebalances and enhances the skin's texture.

A session of an AHA facial peel can be performed every 15 days. A protocol of 4 peels is recommended to optimize results.

Price from 150 euros

TCA peels

How does it work? These are trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels of varying concentrations. At doses of up to 20%, there are mild TCA peels, and more intense peels that cause desquamation over several days, in order to remove the stratum corneum and part of the epidermis. The result is completely new skin, with imperfections corrected and pores tightened.

A session of a TCA facial peel can be performed every 15 days. A protocol of 4 peels is recommended to optimize results.

Price from 200 euros

MesoLift LED

How does it work? MésoLift LED is a treatment that uses a latest-generation hand piece to deliver a complex of antioxidant vitamins and fluid hyaluronic acid to rehydrate skin from within, restoring suppleness and elasticity, with a rebalancing action for dehydrated skin. Contrary to popular belief, combination to oily skin is often dehydrated, as the skin's barrier function struggles to play its role as a shield against external aggressors, allowing the water necessary for skin radiance to escape. MésoLift LED helps restore healthy, hydrated skin and a beautiful texture!

A protocol of 6 sessions spaced 15 days apart is recommended, with maintenance sessions every month.

Price 1 session 200 euros 3 sessions 540 euros instead of 600 6 sessions 1020 instead of 1200 euros

Medical Microneedling

How does it work? Medical Microneedling creates micro-channels on the skin's surface to stimulate the skin's self-healing process, and the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Over the course of several sessions, this treatment gives way to a new, cleaner, fresher skin. Ideal for combating shine caused by overactive sebaceous glands, excess sebum, dilated pores, impurities and blackheads.

Between 3 and 6 sessions are necessary, depending on the treatment plan.

Price 1 session 250 euros 3 sessions 675 euros (instead of 750 euros), 6 sessions 1275 euros (instead of 1500 euros)

Lase MD Ultra

How does it work? Lase MD Ultra uses a laser to deliver targeted active ingredients to improve skin's appearance. The aim is to create skin abrasions and apply a concentrate of targeted active ingredients, chosen according to your skin's needs. To tighten dilated pores, a retinol-based anti-blemish and anti-acne solution is preferred. This vitamin A is renowned for regulating hyperseborrhea and improving skin quality. With each session, cellular regeneration is accentuated, skin texture is refined, impurities are eliminated and pores are tightened.

One session every two weeks.

Price One session 350 euros, 3 sessions 945 euros (-10%), 6 sessions 1785 euros (-15%)

Which treatment should you choose?

  • Peelings are ideal if you want to refine skin texture while enjoying a radiance-enhancing effect.
  • MesoLift LED is ideal for combination to oily skin that is also dehydrated, to restore freshness, suppleness and glow.
  • Medical Microneedling improves shine, treats blackheads and other imperfections.

To tighten dilated pores, it's best to combine treatments to optimize results.

Some useful skincare products for tightening pores

  • Rejuvenating products: anti-aging serums, anti-wrinkle creams, retinol, hyaluronic acid and collagen-based skin care products...
  • Anti-oily skin products: clay-based masks, purifying gels, mattifying creams, sebum regulating serums...
  • A gentle make-up remover: like a micellar lotion that leaves the skin feeling fresh.

Mistakes you shouldn't make if you have dilated pores

  • Using beauty products unsuited to your skin type
  • Forgetting to clean make-up brushes
  • Applying too many layers of make-up (using a highlighter, for example, tends to make pores stand out)
  • Applying make-up while exercising

How can I prevent enlarged pores?

  • Follow a rigorous beauty routine using sebum-regulating products.
  • Practice multimasking, i.e. use different treatments for different areas of the face. To tighten enlarged pores, use a mask suitable for oily skin on the T-zone, and opt for a moisturizing or rejuvenating mask for the rest of the face.
  • Cleanse your skin thoroughly morning and night.
  • Moisturize your face with a treatment suitable for dilated pores, such as a mattifying gel.
  • Use an astringent to tighten pores.
  • Exfoliate your skin once a week to remove impurities.
  • Use blur, a make-up product that blurs skin imperfections.
  • Use a clay mask to purify the skin.
  • Don't neglect your lifestyle (diet, tobacco and alcohol consumption, etc.).
