To make bulges and fatty deposits disappear

Over time, fatty deposits tend to develop, affecting the harmony of the silhouette. Sometimes, even with regular physical activity and a balanced diet, eliminating fat deposits can prove to be difficult. At Maison Lutétia, several solutions are offered to treat localized fatty bulges.

What is localized fat?

The hypodermis consists of lipid-filled cells called adipocytes, forming subcutaneous fat. In both slim and overweight individuals, fatty tissues can accumulate in certain areas of the body. This is known as localized fat! There are two types:

Primary localized fat: This fat is linked to genetic factors and hormonal development. It is mostly found around the knees, thighs, and buttocks.

Secondary localized fat: This is a more advanced fat deposit, often due to lack of physical activity and an imbalanced diet. It tends to accumulate around the sides, abdomen, arms, and chin.

What about cellulite?

Cellulite (aqueous, adipose, fibrous) is found in the subcutaneous cellular tissues, its presence linked to an increase in adipocyte volume. As these cells proliferate, fat pockets swell and bulge, visible on the skin, creating an "orange peel" effect with dimpling. This can be accompanied by circulatory, vascular, and lymphatic issues, leading to water retention and body swelling.

Where is fat generally stored?

  • On the abdomen: Fat deposits are typically found around the belly, in men often during andropause, and in women sometimes after pregnancy.
  • On the thighs: "Saddlebags" are often genetic and more common in women.
  • On the hips: Both men and women can develop "love handles".
  • On the chin: When fat accumulates under the chin, a double chin may appear.
  • Under the armpits: This localized fat is found around the bra line.
  • On the arms: When fat accumulates on the arms, it can create a "batwing" effect.

Causes of fatty rolls

The body stores fats with the idea of surviving if it were to lack food. Thus, every unnecessary calorie is retained to be immediately mobilized in the form of carbohydrates. Calories that are difficult to release are converted into lipids, strategic reserves that are hard to tap into. To target this fat, creating an energy deficit is necessary, either through sustained physical activity or a hypocaloric diet below one's needs.

When we ingest food, proteins are transformed into amino acids, lipids into fatty acids, and carbohydrates into glucose. Excess lipids that do not transform into fatty acids (which are essential for muscle and brain function) are stored as fatty deposits. However, fat also originates from glucose generated by carbohydrates that do not transform into fatty acids. For these transformations, the body requires insulin. Excessive insulin production leads to an excessive transformation of fatty acids into fat, appearing on the hips, abdomen, and chin... That's why it's wise to choose foods that do not excessively stimulate insulin production, such as those with a high glycemic index (starches, sugars...).

After 15 years, the number of adipocytes no longer increases; instead, the fatty mass develops, with the volume of each adipocyte potentially multiplying by fifty. Good news: Fat cells are very fragile and self-destruct when damaged (for example, through aesthetic medicine treatments). This is known as apoptosis.

How to eliminate localized fat?

  • A correct lifestyle: Avoid tobacco and alcohol consumption... Take vitamins and sleep at least 8 hours per night!
  • A healthy diet: Avoid ready-made meals, overly salty or fatty foods, and those high in sugars...
  • Regular physical activity: Exercising helps expend energy and target localized fat.
  • Adequate hydration is necessary: Drink water to facilitate detoxification of the body.
The best sports

to eliminate localized fat

  • Brisk walking (ideally longer than 2.5 hours)
  • Step aerobics
  • Jump rope
  • Dancing

Different treatments to eliminate localized fat

  • For secondary localized fat, a suitable diet and regular exercise can gradually remove it.
  • As for primary localized fat, aesthetic medicine treatment is recommended. Several techniques are used to address areas affected by fat deposits.

In cases of significant excess fat, surgical intervention such as liposuction may be necessary.

Non-surgical treatments for localized fat

Cryolipolysis

How does it work?

It is a cold body contouring treatment that targets localized fat bulges. Adipocytes are gradually eliminated through the lymphatic system, resulting in a refined silhouette. Results are typically observed one month after the session, with optimization seen at three months.

Sessions:

1 to 2 sessions spaced 2 to 3 months apart.

Body RF (radiofrequency)

How does it work?

Body RF is a treatment using bipolar radiofrequency that tones the skin and acts on fat cells, firming the body and improving skin texture.

Sessions:

2 sessions per week for 1 month.

CoolWaves

How does it work?

These are intelligent microwaves that help eliminate localized fat deposits and cellulite. Over the sessions, the orange peel texture smoothens, and the appearance of dimples diminishes, resulting in a firmer body.

Sessions:

4 to 6 sessions are recommended.

BodyLift

How does it work?

It is a treatment that combines two technologies: the intelligent microwaves of CoolWaves to treat cellulite, and the bipolar radiofrequency of Body RF to firm the skin and combat skin laxity.

Sessions:

A protocol of 10 sessions with 2 sessions per week, 1 CoolWaves session at the beginning of the week and 1 Body RF session at the end of the week.

Mechanical Lymphatic Drainage

How does it work?

It is an anti-cellulite treatment that targets water retention, fat cells, lymph, and microcirculation. By activating the lymphatic system, the body deflates from the first session.

Sessions:

2 sessions per week for 6 weeks.

What about

natural and feasible methods at home?

Intermittent fasting, also known as fasting, helps burn fat deposits by abstaining from eating for a specific period, while ensuring hydration, especially with green tea. Not without risks, consult your doctor before starting.

Massages using a cream containing caffeine and an anti-cellulite cup help drain fats.

Changing your dietary habits can help you lose weight and eliminate localized fat; consult with a dietitian for guidance.

FAQ

Is it possible to eat well without gaining weight?

If "eating well" means balanced nutrition, then yes. If it means consuming large quantities, it's possible to avoid gaining weight by choosing foods that are low in calories, such as vegetables.

Is eating little to eliminate fat effective?

A hypocaloric diet helps to lose localized fat. But beware of giving in to cravings! Calories consumed when the body experiences food deficiencies are more or less immediately stored, depending on your metabolism.

Do we really need fat?

Yes, it's a fuel for muscles and the brain!

Is exercise mandatory to melt localized fat?

Exercise is not mandatory for fat loss, but it is advisable to engage in workouts to complement an aesthetic medicine treatment plan aimed at eliminating localized fat deposits. Exercise also helps increase muscle mass, especially in the buttocks.
